2023 Walk to End Alzheimer's Events in Eastern North Carolina

Alzheimer's disease affects millions of lives, not just the individuals diagnosed but also their families and communities. It's a battle that no one should fight alone, and that's why events like the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer's in Eastern North Carolina are so crucial. In this article, we'll guide you through the upcoming walks in our area, how you can participate, and why McKee Homes is passionately involved in this cause.

Why Walk to End Alzheimer's?

The Walk to End Alzheimer's is a charity walk that raises awareness and funds for the Alzheimer's Association. This reputable organization has been dedicated to raising awareness of the disease, providing support for those living with it, and researching possible treatments since 1979.

Each year, this event takes place in over 600 communities across the nation. With a remarkable investment of over $360 million, it supports over 1,000 research projects in 53 countries. Why Walk to End Alzheimer's?

  • Community Support: Walking together fosters a sense of community and shared purpose.
  • Raise Awareness: The more people involved, the louder our collective voice becomes.
  • Fundraising: Money raised goes directly to Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

Beyond these general reasons for participating in the walk, there are also more personal motivations. Pat McKee, Owner of McKee Homes, intimately understands the impact of Alzheimer’s disease.

After a grueling ten-year battle with this devastating disease, Pat's father, Joe, succumbed. Joe McKee, a man who had enjoyed a long and prosperous career in business, had also harbored a personal ambition of constructing homes for his loved ones. Unfortunately, Alzheimer's snatched away his dream of becoming a builder.

To pay tribute to their late father, Pat McKee and his brother, Mike, founded McKee Homes, a company devoted to preserving his memory.

McKee’s company mantra is includes:

Community Embrace:

  • Giving Back is our mantra.
  • We support every community we build through local charities and our associates.
  • We contribute a portion of every home sold to the Joe McKee Memorial Alzheimer’s fund.
