Press Conference with Lt. Gov. Dan Forest at McKee Homes Design Center

by John Rives

The new McKee Homes design center in downtown Fayetteville, NC will be the location of a press conference on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 10:30 AM for the HelpingaHero.org Home for a Wounded Warrior program.

Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest and Miss North Carolina Olivia Olvera will join several wounded warriors, along with Pat McKee and Julie Russo of McKee Homes, to post the first poster opening the nominations for this special Legacy Lakes Home Project.

HelpingaHero.org will open nominations for a North Carolina home to be awarded to a wounded warrior injured during his/her service in Iraq or Afghanistan. Nominations will be open through March 31, 2014 and the home will be awarded in May 2014 at the HelpingaHero.org Warrior Dinner, details to be released in March 2014.

The home will be built by McKee Homes in the Legacy Lakes Community in Aberdeen, NC. The design of the home will be determined once the hero is selected so all of the physical adaptation needs of the wounded warrior can be met. The groundbreaking for the new home will be held during PGA week in June.

This will be the 5th home Texas based HelpingaHero.org has awarded in North Carolina and the second home built in partnership with the Legacy Lakes developer team. Legacy Lakes has generously donated the homesite for this home and is owned by Mountain Real Estate Capital in Charlotte and developed by LStar Management located in Raleigh.

McKee Homes has a history of building homes for Active and Retired Military Veterans, including building several adapted homes for Veterans in the region. Since its inception in 2010, McKee Homes has grown into one of the Ft Bragg area’s largest and most respected New Home Builders. Pat McKee, President says “Our focus is on attention to detail and service. We build quality affordable homes in the area’s most desirable neighborhoods. We have recently expanded into the Raleigh, Wilmington and Southern Pines areas. It is an honor for us to partner with Helping a Hero to build this adaptive home in our newest community, Legacy Lakes in Aberdeen, NC.”

McKee Homes 2013 Retrospective

By John Rives

McKee Homes grew by leaps and bounds in 2013 and almost doubled the number of homes built and sold from 2012. In order to meet the increased production of new homes and communities many new faces were added to the McKee Homes team including new construction project managers, operations manager, and office staff.

McKee Homes began building in many new communities near Fort Bragg in 2013 including Legacy Lakes in Aberdeen with its Nicklaus Design golf course, Liberty Hill and River Glen in Fayetteville, as well as the new Valley Streams community in Anderson Creek Club. Another golf community, Mid South Club in Southern Pines, is slated for early 2014.

McKee Homes expanded outside the Fayetteville/Fort Bragg area to Garner with Summerwind Plantations and will soon open two new communities near Raleigh and Knightdale. In addition we are expanding into Wilmington with Hanover Reserve and Willows. Most of our new communities have homes starting in the high $100’s to low $200s with beautiful 1,700 sq. ft. to 3,500 sq. ft. floor plans.

McKee Homes moved its offices and staff to downtown Fayetteville at 101 Hay Street at the end of 2013. The first floor showcases the newly remodeled design center and is available by appointment for new home selections. The second floor has newly remodeled offices for the McKee Homes staff. The new Design Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held on February 13, 2014 at 4:00 PM.

McKee Homes’ community involvement grew in 2013 with the third annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s being held at Liberty Hill in Fayetteville on September 7, 2013. This event raised over $45,000 for Alzheimer’s care and research. In addition, McKee Homes sponsored and participated in other community events such as the NC State Military Appreciation Baseball Game and the Fayetteville Veteran’s Day Parade.

McKee Homes has continued to grow and build a dynamic company through the past few years and is looking forward to more growth, prosperity, and community involvement in the coming years.

The new McKee Homes Design Center is located at 101 Hay Street next to the Market House. Originally the site of the State House, the Market House was built in 1832. Architecturally unique in North Carolina, the Market House is one of the few structures in North America to use the town hall scheme found in England. Today a National Landmark, the Market House stands as a unique focal point to Fayetteville’s major downtown streets.
