McKee Homes Floor Plans with a Large Garage

Traditionally, a garage was viewed as a very practical section of the home. Often used for the sole purpose of housing the homeowner’s personal vehicle, it is sometimes nothing more than a cement floor and four walls.

Not all new homes offer a garage with enough space for more than one vehicle, or indeed provide an attached garage at all. While a detached garage is certainly useful, it doesn’t provide direct access to a new home, or protect homeowners from the weather when exiting their vehicle. Clearly, there is a certain convenience and security that attached garages provide. Additionally, it can provide an alternative space for storage, a play or hobby area, a gym, or even a “man cave”. All McKee homes have attached “2 car” garages.

However, some new home buyers may be looking for a larger space to accommodate their lifestyle. To suit these new home buyers, McKee Homes has many floor plans that offer garages at 21” x 21” wide or larger.

McKee Homes Floor Plans with Large Garages

Having a large garage can sometimes mean sacrificing the aesthetic of the front of a new home. Most garage door entrances are placed on front of the home, making a large portion of the façade consist of a bay door. McKee Homes understands that, when possible, a new homeowner may want the option of having the door on one side of the home instead of the front. Because of this, some McKee Homes floor plans offer a side-entry option for new homes, known as a “side-load”. When a new homeowner chooses to build a new home with a side-load, the façade of the home is free of a garage door.

Additional modifications for some McKee Homes floor plans include the option of a third bay garage. These third bay garages are separate spaces that also provide a separate bay door. Adding a third bay garage allows a new homeowner to park in an attached space but have the flexibility of using the traditional space for something other than storing a vehicle.

McKee Homes Sponsors Fayetteville Woodpeckers Alzheimer’s Awareness Night

McKee Homes is excited to be a part of minor-league baseballs’ return to Fayetteville, NC and will sponsor the Fayetteville Woodpeckers 2019 Alzheimer’s Awareness night on July 27th, 2019.

It’s no secret that Fayetteville Woodpeckers inaugural season has created a lot of excitement in Fayetteville, NC! It’s no surprise really, the team has given Fayetteville a good reason to be excited. The Fayetteville Woodpeckers are the Class A affiliate of the 2017 World Series Champions: the Houston Astros. Recently the team moved into their new home, Segra Stadium, in Cool Springs District of downtown Fayetteville. With its headquarters located just blocks from Segra Stadium, McKee Homes was excited to see how the team would impact the community. The proximity of Segra Stadium to McKee’s home base, and the Fayetteville Woodpeckers’ desire to increase Alzheimer’s awareness, made McKee’s sponsorship of their Alzheimer’s Awareness night a natural pairing. On this night, McKee Homes will help the team “Paint the Park Purple” to increase Alzheimer’s Awareness in the Fayetteville, NC community.

A Cause that Hits Home

Spreading awareness about Alzheimer’s Disease is near and dear to McKee Homes. Owner Pat McKee is all too familiar with the impact Alzheimer’s has on those afflicted as well as their loved ones. Pat’s father Joe succumbed after a ten-year battle with this devastating disease. While Joe McKee had a long and successful career in business, he also personally built new homes for his family. Alzheimer’s robbed him of his dream of one day becoming a new home builder. When Pat and his brother Mike formed McKee Homes, they dedicated the company to the memory of their father. In hopes that one day other families will not have to face the heartbreak caused by Alzheimer’s disease, they established the Joe McKee Memorial Alzheimer Fund. A percentage of every home sale by McKee Homes goes into this fund to support Alzheimer’s research and care. In addition, the McKees work closely with the Eastern North Carolina Service Area of the Alzheimer’s Association®, supporting efforts such as the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s Awareness is incredibly important because early detection is key in receiving beneficial and appropriate treatment. Often, people impacted by Alzheimer’s disease are diagnosed too late and miss the opportunity to receive the best possible treatment. By increasing awareness in its community, McKee Homes hopes to help create a World Without Alzheimer’s.

Benefits of a Shower with Separate Bathtub

The master bath is a major selling point for a home. After all, the master bath is a room that is likely to be used every day. It’s used in the morning to get ready for work, to clean up after a trip to the gym, to have relaxing soak after a hard day, and so much more. Because this room is used so often, new home buyers want to make sure the master bath suits their unique lifestyle and needs.

New home owners have varying preferences when it comes to priorities for master bath suites. Some like an invigorating shower complete with multiple shower heads, a bench, and room to move. Others want a large tub which can be filled with hot water and bubbles and allow for reclining to soak away stress.

In some master suites, showers and tubs are combined into one unit. In these units, one takes a shower while standing in the bath tub. This is quite functional, but certainly doesn’t convey a feeling of luxury. McKee Homes offers luxurious master bath suites that include a shower with a separate bathtub, or simply just a shower. So what is the right choice?

Benefits of a Single Shower

Having a separate tub and shower in the master bath of a new home might not suit some lifestyles. Not everyone wants or needs a bathtub in the master suite. To suit these lifestyles McKee Homes offers floorplans that do not include a tub in the master suite, which allows for more space and eliminates the need to clean a tub.

Master Bath Suite

New home buyers with limited mobility may prefer a step-in shower, which is easier to access. A tub has high sides which will require a user to lift and bend the knee, but a step-in shower has a low lip that requires only a small amount of movement. Additionally, some McKee floor plans allow new home buyers to upgrade the shower to include bench seating – an upgrade that is not possible in a shower tub combo.

McKee Homes floorplans which offer a master bath suite with no tub that also include a linen closet and an enclosed toilet area.

Benefits of a Separate Bathtub

With a shower having so many attractive qualities it’s easy to forget about the tub. However, a tub is perfect for new home buyers who enjoying a relaxing soak, and is great for large or growing

families. Little ones can enjoy playing in a larger than average tub, and fur babies can also enjoy a bath.

Additionally, when a tub and shower are combined, a shower curtain or glass door must be installed. Shower curtains collect moisture and can mildew, making it more difficult to keep a tub clean. If the shower is separate, this is not an issue.

When you slide into the tub after a hard day’s work, you’ll know the tub is as clean as possible. Many McKee Homes floor plans also include a picture window above the tub, which allows for ample natural light during the day and star gazing from the comfort of your bath in the evening.

McKee Homes floorplans offer a separate bath and shower in the master suite, along with an enclosed toilet area, include:

McKee Homes Sponsors Habitat for Humanity Women Build

Community involvement is important to McKee Homes, particularly when it involves new home construction. In recognition of International Women’s Day on March 8th, McKee Homes sponsored and volunteered in the Fayetteville NC Area Habitat for Humanity (FAHFH)  annual Women Build event.

Building Awareness

Habitat for Humanity’s (HFHI) Women Build program “focuses on building and improving homes and raising awareness of affordable housing issues facing women and their families”. Women Build events accomplish this by teaching women new home building skills. These skills can

McKee Homes Sponsors Habitat for Humanity Women Build

better enable women to facilitate and complete construction repairs and projects. This year Team McKee Homes volunteered with an all women crew working on the interior of an HFHI new home. Working alongside the homeowner and other participants, Team McKee volunteers learned to install baseboards, door trim, and window trim.

One of Team McKee’s volunteers, Monica Cortes, is a builder with McKee Homes. Her years of experience in new home construction gave Team McKee unique insight on the project. Other McKee Homes volunteers had never installed trim and were eager to learn about cutting, fitting, and nailing trim properly. Additionally, the visit to a new home construction site exited McKee Homes volunteers, as some have worked in the new home construction industry for years but don’t often visit a job site.

Neighborhood Revitalization

Currently, FAHFH is working on a neighborhood revitalization effort just down the street from McKee Homes’ corporate headquarters in downtown Fayetteville, NC. This presented a special opportunity for McKee Homes to work on a project that impacts its own “neighborhood”. Neighborhood revitalization can have a transformative effect that helps improve the quality of life for everyone in an area.  These HFHI efforts provide a service not only for a neighborhood, but for a city at large.

McKee Homes support and shares HFHI’s vision of empowering women and building strong communities. HFHI hosts WomenBuild events all around the country, to include Raleigh, Moore County, and Wilmington, NC. For more details on HFHI Women Build events, contact your local Habitat for Humanity or visit www.habitat.org/volunteer/near-you/women-build.

Housing Solutions for Military Families

In August of 2018, news organization Reuters published a series of articles covering apparent lapses in the oversight of living conditions in homes of military families. These allegations targeted private contractors commissioned to build and oversee maintenance of military housing developments. Among other issues, some homes allegedly had paint with high levels of lead, moisture issues and mold growth, and poor water quality.

Investigation & Review of Military Housing

A probe by the U.S. Congress determined these accusations were valid. As a result, all military housing operated by these private contractors is under review. If  a home is found to be unsafe, the family will need to relocate.

Among the effected installations is Ft. Bragg, which is just a short drive from McKee’s headquarters in downtown Fayetteville, NC. Nearly 6,500 homes serving those stationed at Ft. Bragg are under safety review. If forced to move, some families may choose to purchase a home instead of finding a rental property convenient to Ft. Bragg.

Housing Solutions for Military Families

For military families seeking available housing McKee Homes has many move-in ready options. Many McKee floor plans can accommodate growing families and are in communities near Ft. Bragg. Among the most convenient communities are Bedford, the Cottages at North Ramsey, Oakmont, and Sinclair.  Some of these communities offer homes starting from the low and mid $200,000s, as well as homes with 4+ bedrooms, single-story living, master suites on the first floor, and 2+ bathrooms.

With McKee Homes, the process of purchasing a new home is easy. If a McKee preferred lender is used quick closings are possible, and extra incentives on select homes may be available. For new homes and move in ready homes VA Home loans are easy to secure, may require no down payment, and have low closing costs. McKee Homes has a great deal of experience closing homes for service members and can accommodate special circumstances.

Additionally, McKee Homes can build specially adapted housing (SAH) and be ADA compliant.  The Department of Veteran Affairs offers SAH grants to veterans or service members who meet qualification standards. SAH grants help Veterans with certain service-connected disabilities live independently in a barrier-free environment. McKee Homes has experience building specially adapted housing and is glad to answer any questions regarding these needs.

Finally, McKee Homes offers a home warranty which can help ease the minds of new home owners. All homes built by McKee come with a 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty® (2-10 HBW), which offers 2 year systems and 10 year structural protection from the nation’s leading home warranty company.

Experience

Over the 9 years McKee Homes has been in building homes in Fayetteville, NC, proximity to Ft. Bragg has given McKee the privilege to help many veterans and their families purchase their perfect new home.  If you would like to tour a new home, give us a call at 910 672 7296 and schedule an appointment. McKee Homes Receives 2016 Builder of the Year Award

McKee Homes receives 2016 Builder of the Year award by the Home Builders Association of Fayetteville. The award was presented to Pat McKee, President of McKee Homes, at an awards luncheon hosted by the HBAF on November 15, 2016 at Highland Country Club in Fayetteville, NC.

One of the reasons McKee Homes received Fayetteville’s 2016 Builder of the Year Award and a primary reason that McKee Homes stands out in the community is their involvement in numerous local and national charities. McKee Homes has been the presenting sponsor of the Fayetteville Walk to End Alzheimer’s for the past six years which has raised approximately $350,000 to support Alzheimer’s Association® initiatives. The 2016 Walk was held on September 24 at the SwampDogs Stadium in Fayetteville and raised over $97,000 to date with a goal of $104,000 by the end of 2016.

Modern Home Builder magazine published a profile article about McKee Homes in their Summer 2016 edition focusing on their charitable community involvement with special focus on the Fayetteville Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Upon founding McKee Homes, Executive Officers Pat and Mike McKee established the Joe McKee Memorial Alzheimer’s Fund in memory of their father whose dream of becoming a home builder was taken away by this devastating disease. A percentage of every new home sale goes into this fund to support Alzheimer awareness, care and research.

McKee Homes is currently rebranding the company logo, website and marketing collateral, including neighborhood signage, with the purple and white color scheme used by the Alzheimer’s Association® to demonstrate continued support and alliance with this important cause.

In addition to being awarded for its community involvement, McKee Homes was also recognized by some of the most prestigious national home building magazines in 2016. McKee Homes was one of only 15 new companies to be added to the ranks of America’s up-and-coming home builders by Builder Magazine in the 2016 Next 100 list at position 186. They also made the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies for the third year in a row at position 1,654 and are ranked #230 in Professional Builder’s 2016 Housing Giants list.

McKee Homes hosted a VIP open house at their new office and Design Studio in downtown Fayetteville on November 16 and will have the official ribbon cutting event hosted by the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce in December.

With the amount of attention and recognition McKee Homes has received in 2016, it makes perfect sense that they would be named Fayetteville’s 2016 Builder of the Year.
