The master bath is a major selling point for a home. After all, the master bath is a room that is likely to be used every day. It’s used in the morning to get ready for work, to clean up after a trip to the gym, to have relaxing soak after a hard day, and so much more. Because this room is used so often,  new home buyers will want to make sure the master bath suits their unique lifestyle and needs.

Community involvement is important to McKee Homes, particularly when it involves new home construction. In recognition of International Women’s Day on March 8th, McKee Homes sponsored and volunteered in the Fayetteville NC Area Habitat for Humanity (FAHFH)  annual Women Build event.

better enable women to facilitate and complete construction repairs and projects. This year Team McKee Homes volunteered with an all women crew working on the interior of an HFHI new home. Working alongside the homeowner and other participants, Team McKee volunteers learned to install baseboards, door trim, and window trim.

One of Team McKee’s volunteers, Monica Cortes, is a builder with McKee Homes. Her years of experience in new home construction gave Team McKee unique insight on the project. Other McKee Homes volunteers had never installed trim and were eager to learn about cutting, fitting, and nailing trim properly. Additionally, the visit to a new home construction site exited McKee Homes volunteers, as some have worked in the new home construction industry for years but don’t often visit a job site.

Neighborhood Revitalization

Currently, FAHFH is working on a neighborhood revitalization effort just down the street from McKee Homes’ corporate headquarters in downtown Fayetteville, NC. This presented a special opportunity for McKee Homes to work on a project that impacts its own “neighborhood”. Neighborhood revitalization can have a transformative effect that helps improve the quality of life for everyone in an area.  These HFHI efforts provide a service not only for a neighborhood, but for a city at large.

Housing Solutions for Military Families

In August of 2018, news organization Reuters published a series of articles covering apparent lapses in the oversight of living conditions in homes of military families. These allegations targeted private contractors commissioned to build and oversee maintenance of military housing developments. Among other issues, some homes allegedly had paint with high levels of lead, moisture issues and mold growth, and poor water quality.

Investigation & Review of Military Housing

A probe by the U.S. Congress determined these accusations were valid. As a result, all military housing operated by these private contractors is under review. If  a home is found to be unsafe, the family will need to relocate.

Among the effected installations is Ft. Bragg, which is just a short drive from McKee’s headquarters in downtown Fayetteville, NC. Nearly 6,500 homes serving those stationed at Ft. Bragg are under safety review. If forced to move, some families may choose to purchase a home instead of finding a rental property convenient to Ft. Bragg.

McKee Homes Receives 2016 Builder of the Year Award

McKee Homes receives 2016 Builder of the Year award by the Home Builders Association of Fayetteville. The award was presented to Pat McKee, President of McKee Homes, at an awards luncheon hosted by the HBAF on November 15, 2016 at Highland Country Club in Fayetteville, NC.

One of the reasons McKee Homes received Fayetteville’s 2016 Builder of the Year Award and a primary reason that McKee Homes stands out in the community is their involvement in numerous local and national charities. McKee Homes has been the presenting sponsor of the Fayetteville Walk to End Alzheimer’s for the past six years which has raised approximately $350,000 to support Alzheimer’s Association® initiatives. The 2016 Walk was held on September 24 at the SwampDogs Stadium in Fayetteville and raised over $97,000 to date with a goal of $104,000 by the end of 2016.

Modern Home Builder magazine published a profile article about McKee Homes in their Summer 2016 edition focusing on their charitable community involvement with special focus on the Fayetteville Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Upon founding McKee Homes, Executive Officers Pat and Mike McKee established the Joe McKee Memorial Alzheimer’s Fund in memory of their father whose dream of becoming a home builder was taken away by this devastating disease. A percentage of every new home sale goes into this fund to support Alzheimer awareness, care and research.
